The SJ SquidHounds was founded by Danny Dandorf and Doydt Ladd in 1952 in a B&T shop run by J. Miller in Mt Ephraim next to Sacred Heart School.
The first president was Jack MacReid. In order for the club to be sanctioned by the state, we had to get our by-laws approved and name our club. After quite a long debate, we came up with South Jersey SquidHounds, which was suggested by Mr. Ladd. It is a Native American name for striped bass. So that's how our name came to be.
